Point Sublime - July 14th & 15th

Price - $100 per person

Going to Point Sublime in July is one of the greatest thrills in Grand Canyon country. During this time of year daily afternoon thunderstorms bring dramatic skies, lightening, and incredible photographic opportunities. Come along and experience something few ever can.

Day 1 - July 14

This day we will meet at the North Rim Visitor Center at noon. Then we will drive in our vehicles out to Pt. Sublime which is about a 2.5hr drive through a gorgeous ponderosa forest on the enchanting North Rim. If we are lucky and conditions are right, the lighting in the forest will be sublime. We can stop for photos of fields of wildflowers in the backdrop of a misty forest. We will see the canyon as the first pioneers did. Through a forest without a sign of a canyon and then WOW! it appears. The abyss before us. The view from Point Sublime is unlike any views of the canyon. We will spend the late afternoon and sunset hours photographing this gem. I will also discuss the geology and natural history of this place. In the evening before settling into our tents we will practice some night sky photography. I have never been to Point Sublime a without seeing the Milky Way! We are many mile from the nearest town or light pollution. Point Sublime offers a great opportunity for star gazing.

Day 2 - July 15

We will awake before sunrise (optional) to photograph a sunrise at Point Sublime. Then we will have breakfast before the drive back to the North Rim Visitor Center.
